LIKE LACKS AT NIGHT
A Novel
Assisi, 12th century. The life of Saint Francis is narrated from the point of view of Saro, his squire and childhood friend. Their youth flows in a carefree way, between adventures and a good time. When Francis starts asking himself existential questions, Saro supports him, but, in a moment of profound internal crisis, he comes to hold God responsible for the estrangement of his best friend. For many years Francis and Saro followed their own path, but at the end the two old friends reconcile. Now Saro can accompany Francis in the last days of his life.
