THE MAN WHO LOOKED AT THE MOUNTAIN.
Novel
A man at the end of his days, closed in his body, asks to be led to spend the time he has left in front of the mountain he is attached to. What is that man looking for? And what does the mountain represent for him?
A story that unfolds in twelve days (plus one), an interior journey in search of himself. Not an escape from reality, but a homecoming. Stay, don’t escape. And the mountains are an opportunity to talk about his mother, his father, God, faith, love, educating his children, his desires, his relationship with nature, his journey in life…
A novel built around the elements – water, air, fire, stone, wood, grass – which characterize the mountain and become, from time to time, a tool for building a moment of prayer, a memory, or a desire.
MASSIMO CALVI is editor-in-chief of the Catholic daily newpaper Avvenire. He has published essays about social and economic issues. Married, father of three children, he has the mountain in his heart and, as often as he can, he runs away with his mind to walk in places he loves. Every now and then, he even goes there with his body.
