Almost 60 years after the death of John XXIII (June 3, 1963) and in the Year dedicated to the family, the correspondence between Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli and his parents arrives in the bookstore for the first time. In this edition we can find not only the letters of the future pontiff, but also (and that is the absolute novelty) the unpublished missives by his father Battista and his mother Marianna to their son. They are documents of extraordinary simplicity imbued with faith, hope, and charity. The correspondence reflects both the human and spiritual parable of the seminarian, priest, later Bishop Roncalli, between Bergamo, Rome and the East, and the everyday life of a rural Lombard family at the dawn of the 20th century with all its difficulties, pain and joy, mourning and new births, the days marked by hard work in the fields, in the vineyards, in the breeding, punctuated by participation in mass, catechesis, the celebrations of the liturgical cycle. A unique correspondence, which enhances the value of family ties and domestic peace and helps discover the lymph the most beloved pontiff of the last century drew from.

Emanuele Roncalli, journalist and essayist, great-grandson of Saint John XXIII, dedicated several works to the pontiff, like the anthology Letters to the Family (1988), followed by other works. He collaborates with the Rai, Mediaset and Sky networks.
